About the event

Rainham Hall was built in 1729 by John Harle, a mariner and merchant, originally from the River Tyne, who began his mercantile life in the coal trade, but branched out into Baltic and Mediterranean goods. Unlike many merchants of that time Harle was not part of the East Indies or West Indies trade cliques. His retirement project included a trading business from a wharf on Little Rainham Creek which flowed into the Thames. Rainham Hall is now a National Trust property.

This visit is open to TDHG members and non-members. The number attending is not limited but please let us know you will be joining us by informing us at this address.
