About the event

At the September TDHG meeting at the London Museum Docklands Jools Maxwell, Curator of Archaeology at Southend Museums, will give a talk about the 17th century ship The London.

The London was a 64-gun warship that served during the Anglo-Spanish war and later transported the future King James VII and II during the restoration of the monarchy. In 1665, the ship tragically exploded in the Thames Estuary, killing 300 people. Objects recovered from the wreck include a rare 17th-century gun carriage, navigational tools, and organic material, all painstakingly analysed and conserved through research commissioned by Historic England.

Prior to the talk, we will hold the delayed Annual General Meeting. The AGM will take place at 4.45pm, so please try to arrive by 4.30.
