The Trustees of the TDHG are very pleased to announce that they will be hosting a special in-person Commemorative Lecture to mark the many achievements of the late Derek Morris (1932-2024).
As many readers of this TDHG General Newsletter will know, Derek had been a very supportive member of the Docklands History Group (DHG), our predecessor body. As well as participating in many DHG meetings, Derek also contributed to our programmes of evening talks, walks, and annual conferences.
Derek made a very significant contribution to the understanding of so many aspects of 18th century East London history. His numerous important publications – including, articles, reviews and books – stand as a fitting testament to his academic prowess, energy and achievement. If there was historical research material and data to be had – however obscure – Derek was sure to ferret it out in some way. He was always very happy to share the fruits…
